Joey Lawrence allegedly spoiled his co-star Melina Alves with adoration and affection to get her to fall in love with him despite them both being married to other people, a source claimed to People Friday.
“Joey met Melina Alves on the set of their movie, where she was a producer,” an insider told the outlet.
“He then love-bombed her just like he love-bombed Samantha [Cope].”
According to WebMD, love-bombing is “an emotional manipulation technique that involves giving someone excessive compliments, attention, or affection to eventually control them.”
On Aug. 13, Cope, 37, filed for divorce from Lawrence, 48, after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Less than two weeks later, it was revealed that Alves’ estranged husband, Edward Rider, accused the “Brotherly Love” alum of having an affair with his then-wife in his divorce filing.
According to the docs filed in July, Rider found out in March that Lawrence and Alves — who met on the set of their upcoming “Socked in for Christmas” movie — allegedly had a sexual relationship.
The husband reportedly believed the hookups took place in California but at “various” times and places.
Reps for Lawrence and Alves have not returned Page Six’s multiple requests for comment.
The actors have also not commented on the cheating allegations via social media.
People’s source claimed that even after Cope found out about the alleged affair and “confronted” Lawrence about it, the “Blossom” alum “continued to date Melina.”
The “Deadly Deed” actress “wanted to go to counseling,” according to the insider, but Lawrence allegedly “fooled their counselor” and carried on his affair despite the therapy.
The source claimed the father of three would “get ready for dates with Melina while Sam watched, bawling her eyes out.”
Cope — who shares 1-year-old daughter Dylan Rose with Lawrence — is now seeking primary physical custody of their child but no spousal support.
Leading up to the announcement of their split, the mom of one shared a cryptic post on Instagram that read in part, “Not everything you lose is a loss. Some things are a freedom.”
Lawrence and Cope tied the knot in May 2022. They met met on the set of Lifetime’s “My Husband’s Secret Brother” and were engaged by August 2021, before his divorce from Yawn-Nelson was finalized.
The “Brotherly Love Podcast” host shares two teen girls — Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14 — with Yawn-Nelson, who was his second wife. He was also previously married to Michelle Vella.
